Day 1: Arrive Egypt Real Egypt Tours representative will meet and assist you, at Cairo International Airport, through passport control and customs formalities. You will then be transferred to your hotel ready to start your Egyptian holiday. Overnight in Cairo. Day 2: The Giza Plateau / The Great Pyramids After breakfast you will enjoy a trip to the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. From there you will see the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. After this you will be taken into Cairo to visit the world famous Cairo Museum where you can see the collection of Tutankhamen amongst many other Pharanoic artifacts. You will then be transferred to the railway station to take a First Class seating train to Luxor. Day 3: Luxor Sightseeing Arrive at Luxor railway station where you will be met and assisted and transferred to your hotel for check in. You will then be taken on an excursion to visit The Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut - the powerful Egyptian Queen, and the Colossi of Memnon. After this you will visit the splendid Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple. Back to your hotel and overnight in Luxor. Day 4: Aswan Sightseeing After breakfast you will be transferred by air-conditioned vehicle to Aswan. After checking in at your hotel you will be taken to see the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk - commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut but due to there being a fault in the rock was never finished - and then on to the beautiful temple of Philae - which is dedicated to the Goddesses Isis and Hathor. Finally there is the opportunity to sail around Elephantine Island by felucca boat. Return to the hotel and overnight in Aswan. Day 5: Abu Simbel Temples. You will be taken by air-conditioned coach to see the fabulous temples of Ramses ll at Abu Simbel. To show his love for Nefertari to the world, Ramses offered her the most fabulous of gifts; Abu Simbel the two temples that he erected as symbols of their eternal love. After visiting Abu Simbel you will be returned to Aswan railway station for departure to Cairo by your First Class overnight train. Day 6: Cairo You will be met and assisted at Cairo railway station and transferred to your hotel. For those interested there is an optional tour to Memphis and Sakkara. Memphis was founded by King Menes and was the ancient capital of the Old Egypt. The step pyramid at Sakkara was designed by the architect Imhotep for his master King Zoser. Day 7: Free Day in Cairo / or Alexandria Sights. You may choose to spend this day in Cairo visiting the famous Souk at Khan el Khalili, maybe visit the Coptic Quarter where you will see the Hanging Church; take coffee at the famous Swiss coffee shop of 'Groppi' and imagine yourself back in Colonial times. However there is the option to visit Alexandria where you will be able to see Qaitbay Fort - built in the 15th Century by Sultan Qaitbay on the exact spot of the famous Alexandria ancient lighthouse (one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world). Stop and move around the grand Montazah Palace, which combines Turkish and Florentine architectural styles. Finally you will be taken to see the new, and much acclaimed, Alexandria Library; visit the Roman Cemetery - cut out of the rock, the Catacombs. Finally return to Cairo and overnight. Day 8: Final Departure. After breakfast you will be transferred to Cairo International Airport for your departure |
