Study Middle Egypt
Day 1: Arrive in Luxor The Real Egypt Tours' representative will meet and assist you at Luxor International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. Overnight in Luxor.
Day 2: Abydos / El Minya After breakfast we will drive to El Minya - often called 'the Bridge of Egypt' due to its location which is roughly at the border of Upper and Lower Egypt. Visit Abydos - this is one of the most ancient cities of Upper Egypt and is notable for the Temple of Seti 1 with the adjacent temple of his son Ramses ll. Check into your hotel and overnight in El Minya.
Day 3: El Minya After breakfast you will visit Beni Hasan - an ancient Egyptian cemetery site located in the area known as Middle Egypt. To the south of the cemetery is a temple constructed by Queen Hatshepsut and Tutmose lll known as the Grotto of Artemis - the temple is sub-terranean., Speos Aratemidos (Zawyet el-Amwat) and Tihna el-Gebel - a little visited site on the East Bank of the Nile to the north of El Minya. It is best known for the Old Kingdom rock-cut tombs - the 'Fraser Tombs'.
Day 4: El Minya After breakfast you will visit Tell el-Amarna - the ancient city of Akhenaton - built by the heretic king Akhenaton - the first Egyptian monotheist; Tina el Gebel - whose ruins today are scattered over an area of 3 km ; and El-Ashmunein - today a modern town on the West Bank of the Nile but nearby was a town known as Khmunw - during the Old Kingdom this town was of great importance as a cult centre of Thoth - the god of wisdom, healing and writing.
Day 5: El Minya After breakfast you will visit Deir el-Bersha - a Coptic village in Middle Egypt. During the Middle Kingdom it was the chief cemetery of the governors "nomarchs".; Sheik Said - a burial place of the Upper Egyptian nomes - a group of rock tombs cut into the side of a cliff and el-Sheikh 'Ibada (Antioopolis)
Day 6: El Minya After breakfast you will visit Meir, Deir el-Gabrawi where there is a cemetery of over 100 rock cut tombs; And the necropolis of Qaw el Kebir. (Hemmamiy)
Day 7: Akhmeem / Luxor After breakfast check out of your hotel in El Minya and visit Akhmim on the drive back to Luxor. Check into your hotel and overnight in Luxor.
Day 8: Final Departure After breakfast our representative will transfer you to Luxor International Airport for your final departure.
