The temple of Hathor at Dendera, on the Nile north of Luxor, is one of the latest Egyptian temples. Dedicated to the wife of the god Horus and was built in Roman times between 30BC and 14AD. It was built on top of an older temple and it is probable that the later temple was based on its predecessor. Dendera was an ancient healing centre, comparable to Lourdes. Hathor, wife of Horus, goddess of the sky, fertility and healing The most fascinating sight inside the temple is the roof chapel dedicated to Osiris which contains a sundial and circular zodiac. This is a replica as the original one is in the Louvre in Paris.
